The Amazon rain-forest is known for its rich biodiversity, but few realize the plants of the Amazon have been used by not only ancient civilizations, but are still being used today for there powerful medicinal properties.
But a little known fact is Chinese scientists have been participating in a joint research and biodiversity protection in the Amazon since 2008, contributing their wisdom to the worlds largest tropical rain-forest.
For many Chinese, the Amazon brings images of pythons and piranhas, but it is a new frontier for Chinese scientists and foreign cooperation.
As south China botanical garden, a leading institute for plant and ecological research in China marked its 90th anniversary it was praised for its work in the Amazon in recent years.
The institute, has been training scientists in Amazon countries since 2008.
In 2006, Peru proposed to work with China on biodiversity. The south China botanical garden, located in the southern province of Guangdong was selected as the Chinese partner.
Amazon Warrior – Baijiu Cocktail
50ml of V.I.P Jiu 8
25ml of peach liqueur
50ml of ruby port
50ml of lemon juice
25ml of orange juice
2 dashes of orange bitters
100ml of champagne
Green and black grapes
Put all ingredients except the champagne and grapes into a shaker, shake well. Strain into tall glass, top with champagne and garnish with grapes on a cocktail stick.
